#1) In my opinion, my man/machine artwork was my most successful artwork. For the man/machine artwork, we were supposed to make an artwork that showed how humans and machines, which could be robots, electricity, machinery, or something like that, interacting or having connections. For that, I drew, with a regular pencil, a woman with wires attached to her. I drew the neck and part of the woman's body that surrounds her neck. I think this artwork was my most successful because it has a lot of detail and shading. I also spent the most time on it. I feel like the shading is correct and the smallest amount of shading and detail made the artwork better, opposed to if I only shaded the main parts. |
#2) I feel like I overcame the most obstacles in my man/machine artwork. For that artwork, I drew a woman with wires attached to her neck area with pencil. It was difficult to make it look realistic and to get the shading and details correct. Every time I messed just a little bit, it would throw off the whole thing and I would have to keep trying and trying to get it perfect. When it came to the hair, I originally wanted to do a long fishtail braid, but it didn't look right at all, so I just went for an easy hairstyle; short and straight. After I was done with the artwork, I was actually glad that I chose the simple hairstyle because I could include the wires without the hair getting in the way. The part that I think I overcame the most obstacles in was the collarbone area. Even though it may look like I shaded it effortlessly, that was after a numerous amount of tries. At first, I just couldn't find the right place to put it in, and I kept shading and erasing, shading and erasing. I was really happy when I got the details and shading just right. |
#3) My man/machine and sound artwork show my growth as an artist. In each of them, I think I put a lot of hard work and time into getting the details and shading correct. In my man/machine artwork, the shading shows how I can add detail and blend the pencil in the right way. In my first artwork of the year, light, I used a mechanical pencil and didn't blend correctly and it looked really sloppy. I think it is just an overall better artwork than my last ones. In my sound artwork, the lines are correctly proportional and I think the lines and parts are in the right place. In some of my first artworks, I didn't really care if some things were perfectly parallel and how they were supposed to be. Overall, I think now I choose maturely what to make and show details not in a careless way. |
#4) I am honestly delighted that we more choices in subject matter and material choice. This new way of teaching/learning lets the students have an opportunity to do something we like to do. I, personally, just like using regular pencil because it is easy to shade with and I like how it makes drawings look like a black and white picture. If I didn't have the ability to use whatever medium I wanted to, it would be really boring and my artworks probably wouldn't look that good. But, I also like how we are introduced to and taught how to use many different types of materials and mediums. It is just an altogether good thing because us as students need to find our own interests so we can use them to our advantage in the future.
